CCNP Security: Implementing & Operating Cisco Security Core Technologies (SCOR – 350-701)

The CCNP Security certification program validates the candidates skills required to secure network design and implementation using Cisco secure access, Edge network security, threat Control, and secure mobility solutions, and now includes automation and programmability which helps to design, deploy, maintain and manage an end-to-end network security solutions/infrastructure. It is a great opportunity to be Cisco certified professional for those who would like to establish a career in Cisco Networking. This course intents to provide underpinning knowledge and skills in network security to increase awareness and develop deeper knowledge and appropriate skills of the discipline.

Prerequisites:

There are no formal prerequisites for CCNP Security, but ideally candidates will have three to five years of experience implementing security solutions.

This course has been articulated in conjunction with the SQA standalone units/ PDA so the Learners will have an opportunity to earn 64 credit points if successfully passed all relevant unit exams.

Modes of Learning:

You have the option of undertaking this course via following learning modes:

  1. Face to Face (Classroom based Learning): You will attend the class each week on its specified day and time at your designated centre (Edinburgh or Glasgow)
  2. Virtual Learning: Live traditional face to face class will broadcast remotely via our online settings through Microsoft Team
  3. Blended Learning: Mixture of Face to face and Virtual learning (must inform when joining the course).

Required Certification/Exam & Training:

To earn the CCNP Security certification, you will need to pass two exams: a core exam and a security concentration of your choosing, allowing you to focus your training on a technology that is most relevant to you. The core exam focuses on your knowledge of security infrastructure.

Step 1: Take the Core exam and recommended training

  1. The Implementing and Operating Cisco Security Core Technologies v1.0 (SCOR 350-701) exam is a 120-minute exam associated with the CCNP Security, Cisco Certified Specialist – Security Core, and CCIE Security certifications.
  2. The core exam is also the qualifying exam for CCIE Security certification (Labs). Passing this exam helps toward earning both of these certifications

Step 2: Choose one Concentration exam and recommended training

  1. Securing Networks with Cisco Firepower Next Genertion  (300-710 SNCF)
  2. Implementing and Configuring Cisco Identity Services Engine (300-715 SISE)
  3. Securing Email with Cisco Email Security Appliance (300-720 SESA)
  4. Securing the Web with Cisco Web Security Appliance (300-725 SWSA)
  5. Implementing Secure Solutions with Virtual Private Networks (300-730 SVPN)
  6. Automating and Programming Cisco Security Solutions (300-735 SAUTO)

Course funding: SAAS: Scottish Awards Agency for Scotland

This course is funded by SAAS part-time funding which is available to eligible individuals only;

SAAS General funding eligibility requirement:

  1. You have to be a resident of Scotland
  2. Either employed and earning less than 25k a year or can be unemployed as well
  3. Have not used the SAAS funding in this Academic Year.

Other criteria:

  1. Students do not need to pay it back as this is a grant not a loan.
  2. This funding is different from the full-time funding which can be applied by someone who previously granted for a degree, postgrad or any other full-time studies (HNC/HND) etc.
  3. Part time funding cannot be received on a same session if one is already receiving any part/full time funding for other courses.
  4. Part Time funding can only be used for one course per academic year.
  5. SAAS part time funding academic year starts from Aug to July.
