PDA Network Technology – eLearning course only (Distance Learning)

Introduction to the PDA Award:

This Professional Development Award (PDA) is one of a suite which was designed to incorporate the knowledge and understanding required by popular Vendors’ Neutral award into SQA’s Higher National frameworks.

 

Course Introduction:

The PDA in Network Technology is an eight-credit PDA which covers the knowledge and understanding associated with the Cisco CCNA Program and would be attractive to candidates who were looking for a position as a network engineer/administrator, or candidates who needed to verify their existing skills in network engineering for progression within an organisation.

 

Prerequisites:

  • It would be advisable for all candidates to have some prior knowledge of computing or information technology although formal qualifications may not be necessary if suitable experience had been gained informally or through work experience.
  • Mature candidates with suitable work experience may be accepted for entry
  • Different combinations of relevant National Qualifications, Vocational Qualifications and equivalent qualifications from other awarding bodies may also be acceptable, as would suitable vendor qualifications at an appropriate level.

All four unit outcomes will be covered comprehensively; (see below in the SQA Framework Chart for the units associated with this qualification)

SQA Framework:

The PDA Network Technology Cisco program offers a number of shorter curricula which are related to SQA HN Units. These are also assessed by means of restricted response questions and practical labs and so can give credit transfer to complete units.

SQA Exam Cost:

Please note ITPT wil bear all SQA exam related fee, learners don’t have to pay anything for the SQA exams.

ELearning is currently available for this course only.

Further Study Progression:

Candidates will acquire 64 SCQF credit which can be utilised to get exemptions towards HNC/D Networking or any course which has a combination of all four existing units in this PDA qualification.

Candidates who successfully completed this PDA would have the knowledge and skills required to sit for the CCNA exams with little more study.

 

How to apply for the Course Funding from SAAS PTFG:

SAAS Part Time full funding is available for this course and the course training will be totally free for eligible candidates only. This is a grant not a loan and the funding covers the full cost of our designated courses including the SQA relevant exams.

In addition to the funding application student must fill ITPT course admission application form so we can reserve the place while their SAAS funding application is in process. Any student who do not inform us then their place in the course will not be guaranteed as we have minimum places to offer to SAAS funded students/learners.

Students intending to use SAAS Part Time Fee Grant to fund their studies should apply well prior to the course starting dates. In some cases we allow students to enrol while their funding is in process, if the course date is near or gone past but they have to provide the proof that their funding has been applied to SAAS PTFG and is in under process.

Self-Finance

Students can also self-finance this course if do not qualify for the funding. The cost can be divided into manageable instalments but this needs to be paid within the course duration. To book the place, first instalment must be paid three weeks before the course starting date.

Application Process:

You will be expected to attend an interview with a member of the course team. There will be a basic networking aptitude test to observe your understanding of this course.
