Course Introduction:
This Java SE 8 Associate training teaches students with little or no programming experience to begin to learn to program using the Java programming language. It explores the significance of object-oriented programming, the keywords and constructs of the Java programming language and the steps required to create simple Java technology programs.

This hands-on Java SE 8 Associate course provides an introduction to programming using the Java language. Students are introduced to the java building blocks, Object Oriented Programming techniques, and specific language syntax. The course introduces important algorithmic constructs, string and character manipulation, dynamic memory allocation and fundamental object-oriented programming concepts. The course explains the use of inheritance and polymorphism, implementing interfaces and abstraction early on so the students can practice extensively in the hands on labs. Object oriented programming techniques with the concept of SOA, Service Oriented Architecture, and exception handling is emphasised. The course includes an introduction to Netbeans, a recommended framework by Oracle Corporation for almost all kind of java application, so the student will be able to write flexible, user friendly programs.

Prerequisites
No formal prerequisites is required, Good to have some basic Programming knowledge.
No entry requirement and no prior programming skills required to go into Level 1 certification.

SQA Framework
This Java program also offers a number of shorter curricula which are related to SQA HN Units and sits @ SCQF Level 7. The total credits of 32 can be achieved on passing SQA exams successfully at no additional cost.

Hands on Experience
You’ll gain hands on experience with basic object oriented programming concepts like inheritance, encapsulation and abstraction. Learn to create and use simple Java classes containing arrays, loops and conditional statements. Comprehensive hands on exercises are integrated throughout to reinforce learning and develop real competency.

Classes Duration
This course will be delivered 1day a week, 3 – 7 hours, one full classroom, 4 – 5 months (16 – 18 weeks).

Modes of Learning:
You have the option of undertaking this course via following learning modes:
1.) Face to Face Classroom based Learning: You will attend the class each week on the day and time mentioned above.
2.) Virtual Learning: Live traditional face to face class will broadcast to all virtual learners each week on a specified time.
3.) Blended Learning: Mixture of Face to face and Virtual learning (must inform when joining the course).
4.) ELearning is currently available for this course

Option to join this Tutor-Led Course as a Virtual Learner from home:
Students have the option of joining this tutor–led course as a Virtual Learning. For this mode of learning, they will join the course virtually from home. Students will join the class virtually at the times mentioned above and will follow the live virtual class that is led by our qualified instructor. This had proved a popular mode of learning for students as it allows them to follow the course/lessons in real time, discuss the course with you fellow students and instructor during the lesson and allows the instructor to ensure you are successfully completing the work. You will not need to attend our Edinburgh training centre for any lessons. A recording of each lesson will be available for student to view in their own time too. We would send students a link to access this virtual learning classroom via Microsoft Teams.

How to apply for the Course Funding from SAAS PTFG:
SAAS Part Time full funding is available for this course and the course training will be totally free for eligible candidates only. This is a grant not a loan and the funding covers the full cost of our designated courses including the SQA relevant exams.

In addition to the funding application student must fill ITPT course admission application form so we can reserve the place while their SAAS funding application is in process. Any student who do not inform us then their place in the course will not be guaranteed as we have minimum places to offer to SAAS funded students/learners.

Students intending to use SAAS Part Time Fee Grant to fund their studies should apply well prior to the course starting dates. In some cases we allow students to enrol while their funding is in process, if the course date is near or gone past but they have to provide the proof that their funding has been applied to SAAS PTFG and is in under process.

Self-Finance
Students can also self-finance this course if do not qualify for the funding. The cost can be divided into manageable instalments but this needs to be paid within the course duration. To book the place, first instalment must be paid three weeks before the course starting date.

Group Learner Discounts:
There is further discounts if there a group of students or delegates from the company wants to attend the course.
