Part-time Student Funding:

Students with an income of £25,000 a year or less may qualify for a Part Time Free Grant from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland. SAAS will link the level of the Part Time Free Grant available to the number of credits you study. This means students can be awarded support in excess of the previous £500 limit.

To be eligible for SAAS funding students need to have an income of less than or equals to £25,000 and meet the following additional criteria:

  • Be taking between 30-119 credits at ITPT within the relevant academic year.
  • Be working towards an undergraduate degree, with modules being taken at SCQF levels 7-10, or be taking modules for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) at SCQF levels 7-10

General Eligibility Criteria for Part-Time Funding in SAAS (Student Awards Agency Scotland):

  1. Residency Status:
    • Must be a resident of Scotland.
    • Meet specific residency requirements as outlined by SAAS.
  2. Course Criteria:
    • The course must be recognized and eligible for funding by SAAS.
    • Must be studying at an approved institution.
  3. Study Intensity:
    • Must be studying at least 30 SCQF (Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework) credits per academic year.
  4. Previous Funding:
    • Generally, you should not have previously received funding for the same level of study.
    • Must comply with SAAS regulations regarding previous funding and any restrictions.
  5. Income Criteria:
    • Eligibility may be influenced by household income.
    • SAAS may require financial information to assess eligibility.
  6. Course Level:
    • Part-time funding is typically available for undergraduate courses.
    • Postgraduate part-time funding may be available under specific conditions.
  7. Other Requirements:
    • Must provide necessary documentation and complete the application process as required by SAAS.
    • Meet any additional criteria specific to the funding type or course.

For the most accurate and detailed information, always refer to the official SAAS website or contact their support services directly.

Other criteria:

  • Students do not need to repay this funding, as it is a grant, not a loan.
  • This funding differs from full-time funding and can be applied for by individuals who have previously received grants for a degree, postgraduate studies, or any other full-time studies (HNC/HND, etc.).
  • Part-time funding cannot be received in the same session if the student is already receiving any part-time or full-time funding for other courses.
  • Part-time funding can only be used for one course per academic year.
  • The SAAS part-time funding academic year runs from August to July.
