    All HND Computing students must complete a common first year (HNC Computing: Progression to

    HND in Computer Science or Software Development) and choose in the second year from HNDs in

    Software Development or Computer Science. This provides them with foundation in both areas

    Software Development & Computer Science so they can make informed choices before specialising.

    The HND Software Development will provide students advanced knowledge for a successful career

    in software technology. The course provides a comprehensive range of hypothetical knowledge and

    practical skills in configuring, designing, building and maintaining websites & software testing.

    This course will allow students to study towards up-to-date Vendor specific certifications in many of

    the skills that are in demand for many different types of career in web development, web applications

    and mobile technology.

     

    What will you study?

    Students will study a selection of appropriate networking units designed to develop student’s skills

    and competencies to enable further study in any university undergraduate networking or computing

    programme.

    Students also have the opportunity to study towards an Oracle Academy qualification.

    These qualifications are highly desired by employers. Students learn a range of languages from

    VB.NET, C++, Java programming, C Sharp and Structured Query Language.

     

    Entry Requirements

    Minimum Entry Requirements:

    • Must possessed HNC in Computing or relevant
    • Mature candidates without the necessary minimum qualifications but with appropriate
    • Other equivalent qualifications or experience will also be considered

     

    Additional Selection Requirements: 

    All applications are subject to an interview to assess suitability in terms of academic qualifications

    and motivation. Reference will also be considered.

    Students will be invited for a group and/or individual interview where they will get the opportunity to

    Course Development Routes

    This course integrates learning materials from industry standard vendors such as Microsoft, CIW,

    Oracle and CompTIA which can help to prepare students for a variety of vendor certification exams.

    On completion of this certificate or during the course, units relevant to any particular vendor’s

    certification students can appear to equip themselves with the global recognised and contemporary

    employers demand qualification from any of the following:

    1. Oracle

    2. CIW

    3. Microsoft

    4. CompTIA Mobility + (partial syllabus covered)

    5. Sun (partial syllabus covered)

    6. Macromedia (partial syllabus covered)

    The Oracle, CIW and Microsoft curriculum are embedded within this qualification. Candidates are

    expected to fund the cost of the vendor certification examinations. Being a partner with Pearson &

    Certiport Testing Centre we can get student’s discounted exam vouchers. Tutors will also help

    students in preparing for any Vendors specific exam they would like to appear for.

    Vendor qualifications are certificated in addition to the HND award and significantly enhance

    candidates’ employability.

    Successful completion of HND in networking may provide access to 2nd or 3rd year of the following

    degree courses at many universities in the region;

    Fees are payable in advance each academic year unless otherwise agreed.
