Course Introduction

The HND covers a range of specialist technical skills and knowledge in using and supporting computer systems used by small and large scale businesses.

Typically, an HNC takes one year to complete and an HND takes two years.

This course will allow students to study towards up-to-date Vendor specific certifications in many of the skills that are in demand for many different types of career in IT (office) Support Role.

The course provides a comprehensive range of knowledge and practical skills in providing technical expertise in relational database technologies, desktop support, web design, database design and programming in PL/SQL, and office applications.

At ITPT we have organized labs that are fully equipped with the latest hardware components and software. In labs, learners will have the opportunity to learn through hands on experience.

 

What will you study?

Students will study a selection of appropriate IT Technology units designed to develop student’s skills and competencies to enable further study in any university undergraduate in business computing programme.

The HND Information Technology from ITPT offers a range of broad based computing support, LAN and Database modules including modules that cover elements of the MOS Word Expert, MOS Excel and web technologies.

Completion of the course culminates in a thought provoking project based on realistic scenarios.

Entry Requirements:

☑ Must pass HNC Information Technology (preferably 15 Credits) Unit Or

☑ Mature candidates without the necessary minimum qualifications will be considered on an individual basis Or

☑ Other equivalent qualifications or experience will also be considered

 

Additional Selection Requirements: 

All applications are subject to an interview to assess suitability in terms of academic qualifications and motivation. Reference will also be considered.

 

Students will be invited for a group and/or individual interview where they will get the opportunity to find out more about the course and to tell us why they are interested in this particular area.

Course Development Routes:

This course integrates learning materials from industry standard vendors such as Microsoft, CompTIA and Oracle which can help to prepare students for a variety of vendor certification exams.

On completion of this certificate or during the course, units relevant to any particular vendor’s certification students can appear to equip themselves with the globally recognised and employers demand qualification.

Candidates are expected to fund the cost of the vendor certification examinations. Being a partner with Pearson & Certiport Testing Centre we can get student’s discounted exam vouchers. Tutors will also help students in preparing for any relevant Vendors specific exam during the course

Vendor qualifications are certificated in addition to the HND award and significantly enhance candidates’ employability.

For students living (domiciled) in Scotland or the European Union and with a term time address in Scotland, the following fees will apply:

Part-time (can be divided per unit)  £1,285

Fees are payable in advance each academic year unless otherwise agreed.

We also provide flexible fee instalments to help students in paying their fee.
