What is Certificate and Diploma of Higher Education?
Higher National Certificates (HNCs) and Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) endow with both the academic and vocational skills requisite by employers and for students future career development.
All the courses are made up of Higher National Unit credits.
- HNC courses are made up of 12 or 15 credits
- HND courses are made up of 30 credits
Candidates must attain all mandatory & optional units in order to be certificated for the Group Award appropriately. However, all units are certificated in their own right, therefore, if any student does not complete the Group Award (HNC or HND) they will still be certificated for the individual units successfully passed.
On successful completion of HNC or HND or both can grant you entry into university or also into a number of IT professional courses from vendor bodies such as Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, Oracle, CIW, Adobe and many others depending on which specific faculty you choose. So whether you want to go straight into a job, or continue your studies, getting a Higher National qualification is a good place to start.
They also help develop advanced study skills and the generic core skills necessary to progress on to University. Some HNCs allow direct entry into the second year of a degree qualification and some HNDs allow direct entry into the third year
